2nd National Congress for the Clergy (Philippines)

Interesting quotations from Fr. Cantalamessa, the Preacher to the Papal household, during the duration of the 2nd National Congress for the Clergy:

"Man is not determined by nature alone. We are determined by our vocation...and celibacy is closest to the final vocation which is union with Christ.

"We don't bring offspring into the world but ours is a fecund and a fertile life.

"Celibacy gives us wings to fly, it should not be a burden...it is not just a counsel, it is a charism, a gift we have received."

" It is not an act of act of renunciation for priests to feel proud about but something exercised with humility, freedom and joy."

"God created the eyes, but he also created the eyelids to cover them."

and lastly a word of warning from the famed Franciscan:

"frenetic activism''

Remembering + Jaime Lachica Cardinal Sin

The Late Cardinal is shown here as the newly appointed Auxillary-Bishop of Jaro.
He wore a mantelleta, a clerical dress, to signify that he has no jurisdiction in the diocese to which he is serving. A tasseled or tufted fascia, sash, is also worth noticing.

"MILITANT" POPE PIUS XII

"I can write encyclicals, I can speak over the radio, I can write about social doctrine
but i cannot go into the factories, into the shops, into mines,...nor can Bishops do this
,nor priests, for these places are closed to them. Therefore, the Church needs thousands and thousands of militant lay missionaries...who are representatives of the Church in
their working environments."-

HOW TO CELEBRATE YOUR OWN MASS!

The daily life of a Christian should be a series of Offertories,
the events of our day become the Host we offer;
and God uses them to help us celebrate our own Mass.+

TIME AND ETERNITY

Anyone who thinks of eternity without making plans for it is a madmen! He has lost either his faith or his mind. And yet, we are very busy with temporal matters and try to take care of all of them, while counting on being able to provide for our soul later on, at the point of death. Ah, if the damned could emerge from hell only for a moment, they would tell us, "For a passing pleasure, for five minutes of satisfaction, for an outburst of anger, for the whim of a moment, I condemned myself myself to an eternity of misery, to an eternity of suffering. Life was short, pleasure was fleeting- and now I must suffer for all eternity," "I did but taste a little honey...and behold I must die ( 1 Kings 14:43)
In our mind's eye, let us open the eternal gates of heaven and contemplate the angels, apostles, patriarchs, prophets, martyrs, confessors, virgins, and people of every age and social condition.
There they are happy. Never will they cast a backward glance; never more will they have anything to fear. Instead there will be a day of lasting splendor, a never-ending eternity in which to enjoy the bliss of God himself.

THOU ART A PRIEST FOR ETERNITY. THE DISPENSER OF CHRIST'S INFINITE MERITS. THE KEEPER OF THE GATES TO HEAVEN+

This was shot at the Vatican during the II Vatican council. one may note that during those times, it is very rare to concelebrate Mass.

BEHOLD THE LAW UNDER WHICH YOU WISH TO FIGHT.
IF YOU CAN OBSERVE IT, ENTER UPON THE LIFE,
IF NOT,
YOU ARE FREE TO LEAVE
Please pray for the Clergy,

"One should NEVER attack a priest, even when he's in error, rather one should pray and do penance that I'll grant him My grace again. He alone fully represents Me, even when he doesn't live after My example!" -Pieta prayer booklet

WORLDLY PEOPLE NEVER UNDERSTAND EVEN THE WORLD-G.K.CHESTERSON
picture from the net

I am really fascinated every time I see a mountain, they are so nice to meditate at. the heights, the greens, and the mighty image it is portraying. often mountains were the place where God often reveals himself. in the old testament, God gave the ten commandments to the Israelites. During Our Lord's time, he chose a mountain where He transfigured in the very eyes of His three Disciples.

" The morning wind forever blows,
the poem of creation is uninterrupted,
but few are the hears that hear it."
